About the Marketing Manager Role:

BRIC seeks a Marketing Manager, Media who will report to the Senior Marketing Manager, and will oversee the development and execution of comprehensive marketing plans for BRIC’s programming, primarily under the umbrella of Media. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of BRIC’s marketing needs around BRIC TV, BRIC’s Emmy award-winning nonprofit cable television channel and digital network, and Brooklyn Free Speech, Brooklyn’s Public Access initiative. You will work in partnership with the Senior Manager and Director to strategize around long-term planning and strategic marketing for both, distinct initiatives, while shaping a long-term strategy that scales our media programming and increases brand awareness.

The Manager must have a passion for the worlds of media, entertainment, and digital content, while embodying exceptional communication skills and having a desire to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of each individual program element.

What You’ll Do in the Role:

The Marketing Manager, Media will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, Senior Marketing Manager.

  • Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and the Executive Producer of BRIC TV, develop and manage a detailed marketing plan for BRIC TV, to maximize the reach, views, engagement of BRIC TV while building brand awareness.
  • Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and BRIC’s Media Team, develop and manage a content calendar and strategy that utilizes the work of community producers who create content for Brooklyn Free Speech year-round.
  • Lead and plan marketing efforts associated with live events related to BRIC TV and Brooklyn Free Speech, including Town Halls, screenings, season launches, and more.
  • Lead and manage innovative marketing campaigns around BRIC’s diverse slate of free and low-cost adult media education classes.
  • Manage influencer marketing for live events related to BRIC TV and Brooklyn Free Speech.
  • Support cross-team marketing efforts on ONE BRIC events, such as the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! festival every summer at Prospect Park.
  • Maintain weekly/monthly metric reports to measure performance indicators across YouTube platforms and cable channels; participate in developing/collecting audience research and regularly reporting on metrics.
  • Coordinate with BRIC’s sponsorship, media partnerships and marketing teams to execute on contractual partnership.
  • Develop and implement advertising campaigns around media programming within the parameters of the budget set by the Director.
  • Accompany the Director of Marketing & Communications and Senior Manager in meetings with external PR firms and help shape overall PR strategy.
  • Oversee audience surveys and marketing recaps for BRIC key events with other team members.
  • Work with Social Media Manager to cultivate strategy around paid or organic social strategies.
  • In partnership with the Social Media Manager, unearth and strategically repurpose archival community content across social media to tie BRIC into larger cultural moments and conversations.
  • Work in partnership with the Senior Manager to effectively market BRIC’s non-event based programming and institutional voice and messaging.
  • Work in partnership with the Senior Graphic Designer on all print and digital marketing needs for the BRIC departments.
  • Work on additional projects and initiatives as assigned by the Senior Marketing Manager.
  • Shape the strategy of developing the public-facing image and messaging of individual programming arms of BRIC.
  • Build out partnerships with other Marketing & Communications staff at arts, cultural and social justice institutions throughout New York City. Think innovatively about ways we could engage in mutual partnership support, through mechanisms such as newsletter and social media cross-promotion.
  • Be an ambassador for BRIC at events and programming.

  • Experience & Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree with directly related, progressively responsible work experience, preferably in the worlds of entertainment or digital media.
    • Four or more years of relevant experience.

  • Detail Oriented. Demonstrates love for writing, and possesses a strong passion for the power of words. Exhibits exemplary grammar, proofreading, editing and communication skills while being attentive to accuracy.
  • Excellent time management: Organized, deadline-driven and adept at managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Deep knowledge of the Arts: Can speak about the Arts and communicate effectively with artists, curators and audiences in a language and framework that they understand.
  • Experience with data analytics: Utilizes data and metrics to inform strategic decision-making and both long-term and short-term planning.
  • Collaborative: Ability to work across departments and teams, synthesizing information and work streams

Other Things to Know:

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $50K – $60K.
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, non-exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.

BRIC currently pays 100% of the premium for employee medical, dental and vision coverage starting on the first of the month after 2 months of employment.
