Insight Global is looking to hire a Research and Development Engineer to one of it’s industrial engineering clients in St. Louis, MO. This is a mid level role where the individual will work primarily in the research facility and perform analysis directed toward investigation and evaluation of multiple raw materials, primarily steel. Since the clients products function at power plants and manufacturing facilities, this role is crucial in preventing warping, breakage, etc. of the steel components due to extreme heat and pressure conditions. There experience should consist of knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer to generate process design to appropriately test the materials. They will perform various experiments on the steel structures and components- including wind tunnel testing, thermal energy testing, hydro flow testing, and carbon capture testing. Documentation should be kept in an orderly fashion as they will present and communicate their findings to the design, fabrication, aftermarket, and project teams. They will also be the first group to test new products and provide recommendations that will directly impact future manufacturing plans.

Required Skills & Experience
3+ yrs as an R&D (Research and Development) Engineer
3+ yrs of experience in the areas of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and process design
Previous experience performing wind tunnel testing, thermal energy testing, and hydro flow testing on materials and understanding of how they impact product development and design
Proven record of clear and organized documentation of research
