Project Coordinator Intern – Summer 2023

This is a paid internship, range of $19hr – $22/hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

Sound Transit has an exciting internship available for the summer of 2023! This is a great opportunity for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students who want to observe and participate in real world application of their current field of study. This opportunity will allow the intern to gain valuable experience within the Permit Administration division under our Design, Engineering, and Construction Management (DECM) department.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Sound Transit’s DECM department oversees Design, Engineering, and Construction Management throughout the Puget Sound region – Link, Sounder, ST Express, and Tacoma Link. The Project Coordinator intern will have an opportunity to be a part of the team that oversees our Permitting services and learn how a large regional transit system is managed.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist Permit Administration staff in applying project level coli policy and regulatory requirements on issues related to technical codes, environmentally critical areas, land use, and high-capacity transit issues.;
  • Observes and assists as directed with resolution of field issues related to permit conditions or coordinates resources from construction management, contractors, and agencies having jurisdiction as necessary.
  • Coordinates the preparation and assembly of permit packages; tracks and monitors the process through multiple regulatory agencies; documents status of permit packages in process; tracks and records review and approval.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor’s or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Public Administration, or closely related field of study.
