Associate Manager, Creative Direction (ACD)

Epson is a $10B global leader in consumer electronics, imaging, and point of sale printing devices. We are looking for an Assistant Manager of Creative Services who can not only deliver inspired design, but is highly organized and deadline-driven. In this exciting role, you’ll lead a team of talented graphic designers tasked with developing everything from digital banner ads to point-of-sale displays, collateral and much more. You will have a strong manager coach that will support you to flourish and succeed at Epson. This position will be based out of Epson America’s headquarters in Los Alamitos, CA with a hybrid schedule. At Epson, our hybrid schedule is only 6 days per month.

Principal Accountabilities
In addition to the following Epson’s policies and procedures, principle accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
• Inspire design team to generate strong, fresh visuals from concept to completion including strategy and concept development, research, and design
• Set design direction and lead development of branding and graphic design elements for print and digital
• Assist with project scopes, timing, and resource planning for internal project management purposes
• Conduct daily departmental tasks: oversee project intake, balance team workload, review graphic design deliverables. Track projects and provide guidance to team about assignments and level of effort
• Support your graphic design team, ensuring work/life balance, coaching/mentoring, professional development, hiring, onboarding, training, and making sure they have the tools they need to do their job
• Serve as the creative point of contact on projects with key stakeholders

Additional responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Work with the creative services manager to set project style and supervise staff on conceptual work within that style
• Identify and onboard external design agencies and freelancers to supplement internal design team’s skills and capabilities.
• Develop and review project intake requests, project timelines, and production schedules
• Review graphic designers’ work through a QA/QC process, oversee the production of production-ready files, ensuring accuracy in all graphic-based documents
• Coordinate and collaborate with internal creative services’ project managers to agree on scopes, timing, resources and deliverables
• Co-lead, attend, and present at creative meetings, co-host brainstorming sessions, Lead internal project kick-off meetings
• Travel occasionally to photo shoots, press checks and tradeshows
• Provide guidance to graphic designers on how to incorporate internal and external client feedback into their designs

What you will bring
• 8 or more years of experience as a graphic designer
• 1-2 years of experience managing and mentoring staff
• Demonstrated ability to think creatively, with a portfolio showcasing experiences in branding, typography, color, layout, basic web/digital design, and print/digital-ready files
• Demonstrated understanding of project management principles, including scope, resourcing, schedule, and quality control
• Demonstrated ability to take a project from concept to completion
• Demonstrated ability to manage and balance the demands of many projects simultaneously
• Exhibits accuracy, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Strong initiative and the ability to work independently with little or no supervision
• Strong professional ethics, leadership skills, accountability, and decision-making capabilities
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication and analytic skills
• Expert in Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficient in MS Office, Asana and SalesForce (or equivalent project management software)
• Experience with Digital Asset Management systems

The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $110,422 and $142,899. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
