INTERNSHIP PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
General Intern Expectations
- Project Inception to Closeout
- Understand each phase of a project & the players involved
- Put together a thorough and accurate submittal and learn how closeout documentation is submitted.
- SUBMITTALS: WE3, Palmdale, LATTC
- CLOSETOUT: CEE & EPIC
- Project Information & Changes
- Understand the importance of changes (RFIs, ASIs, Bulletins, etc.) in our work (e.g., getting an understanding of PlanGrid)
- Understand our work and how certain Owner/Arch/GC changes may impact our work
- Know the ways to communicate to the field employees (i.e., PlanGrid & email/phone communication); and
- Learn how to write a clear and concise RFI.
- Budget Tracking
- Understand cost codes & subsections
- Learn how we track labor and timesheets
- Monitoring costs
- Tracking/Pricing changes internally and submitting costs to GC
- Projecting margins accurately
Core Responsibilities
- Creating submittals & closeout documentation
- Tracking & posting RFIs to PlanGrid
- Creating CORs in Plexxis using T&M tickets (and QB information)
- Generating RFIs
- Tracking field time (LATTC or The Lot)
Coach / Intern Workshops
Week 1:
Classroom Training Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
- Introduction to the Nevell Group Scope
- Framing, Hanging, Taping, Plaster/Waterproofing 101
- PreCon Process: Design Bid vs Design Build
- Estimating/OST Quick Bid
- Intro to ACT/Ceiling Department
- Into to Prefabrication/Kapture and Panel assembly
- Plexxis Training
- Construction Scheduling/Last Planner System
- Design/BIM
- Postmortems
- PlanGrid Training
- Introduction to time keeping and payroll
- Leadership Training
Weeks 2-10+
1:1 mentorship with a Project Manager/Coach with time in the home office and active job sites.
