Description
The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships between CAA and the community, contributing to the overall agency mission, by fostering positive relationships to enhance the quality of life for the community. This role involves planning, organizing, and executing initiatives that enhance the organization’s reputation, foster community engagement, and support local outreach efforts. The Community Relations Coordinator serves as a liaison between the organization and various community stakeholders, including residents, businesses, nonprofits and government agencies. The Community Relations Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s reputation within the community and driving meaningful engagement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Under General Supervision:
- Assists the VP of Community Relations, Development Director and Community Engagement Director in strategic development and implementation of various campaigns.
- Community Engagement:

- Support and implement strategies to actively engage with local communities, ensuring a strong and positive presence.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, community leaders, organizations, government agencies and individuals to foster collaboration and partnership opportunities.
- Work with Community Engagement Director to organize and participate in community events to build rapport and strengthen community ties.
- Identify and collaborate with key stakeholders, community leaders, and organizations to foster partnerships and support mutual goals.
- Develop and coordinate programs and events that have a positive impact on the community. Serve as a point of contact for organizations and businesses seeking to promote CAA’s programs and services. Staff community events as needed festivals, fairs, etc.
- Communication:

- Craft compelling messages and communication materials to convey the organization’s mission, values, and initiatives to the community.
- Respond promptly and effectively to community inquiries, feedback, and concerns, acting as a bridge between the organization and its constituents.
- Public Relations:

- Work closely with the community relations specialist to ensure consistent and positive messaging across various channels.
- Monitor media coverage and online conversations related to the organization, addressing any misconceptions or negative sentiment.
- Collaborate with media outlets to promote events, initiatives, and positive stories related to the organization’s community involvement.
- Partnerships and Collaborations:

- Collaborate with the Vice President of Community Relations, Development Director and Community Engagement Director to support community and organizational efforts, including food pantries, development initiatives, annual luncheon, etc.
- Identify potential partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, and government agencies to collaborate on projects that benefit the community and create positive and meaningful impact.
- Community Advocacy:

- Advocate for community interests within the organization, ensuring that decisions and actions align with the community’s best interests.
- Raise awareness about community issues and needs within the organization.
- Event Planning and Execution:

- Organize and manage community events, workshops, and initiatives that foster interaction, dialogue, and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate logistics, promotion, and participation to ensure successful and impactful events.
- Plan and execute community events, such as fundraisers, volunteer drives, town hall meetings, and workshops, to promote community involvement and address local concerns.
- Serve as event and organizational photographer, as needed.
- Data Collection and Reporting: support the creation and maintenance of a Community Relations database. Gather data and metrics related to community engagement efforts and produce regular reports for internal analysis and presentation to leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, community development, sociology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using various communication tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and content management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Organizational and project management skills to plan and execute events and initiatives effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of initiative and creativity.
- Understanding of community dynamics, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to adapt strategies to local contexts.
- Experience in event planning, public relations, or community engagement is a plus.
- Familiarity with local government structures and community resources may be beneficial.
