Role Purpose

Establish and maintain current a management program designed to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace potentially able to cause illness, impaired health and well-being or significant impairment. In addition, ensure state accreditation and agency requirements for radiologic imaging and x-ray producing equipment/devices. Monitors radiation dosimetry readings and coordinates with affected department heads to prevent recurrence and ensure adherence to principals of ALARA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and or coordinate basic industrial hygiene processes, quantitative observations and measurements. Interpret results of environmental examination in terms of ability to impair health, nature of health impairment, workers efficiency, community nuisance or damage and present specific conclusions to appropriate parties such as management, health officials and employee representatives.
  • Address specialty areas including toxicology, epidemiology, chemistry, ergonomics, acoustics, ventilation engineering and provide statistical analysis as applicable. Manage organizational Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Chemical Hygiene, Ergonomics and Respiratory Protection Management Programs.
  • Perform Risk Assessments and use media collection equipment to identify hazards. Determine and validate need for effective control measures when necessary for feasibility and effectiveness. Provide technical support to Radiation and Laser Management processes.
  • Establishes organizational radiation management programs for compliance with radiation protection standards related to radiological producing equipment, exposure investigations, personnel dosimetry and related personal protective equipment (lead aprons).
  • Monitors and coordinates with qualified prime vendor performing radiological support services. Provide summary reports to Radiological Producing Equipment Committee including status complete and recommendations for compliance.
