Department Overview
The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary
This job is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and is subject to collective bargaining.
An employee who performs technical work associated with construction activities such as cost estimating, contract management, simple drafting; preparation and correction of field drawings; ordering and receiving material; licenses, and permits; assisting Senior Field Engineering Technicians and Field Engineers; preparing construction notes; inspection and performance of other related duties.
This is an onsite position.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $41.27 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of an employee in a higher classification:
- Assists in planning, scheduling, and cost-control activities, such as operation and maintenance of scheduling, cost-control and reporting systems under the supervision of an employee in a higher classification.
- Assists Senior Field Engineering Technicians and Field Engineers.
- Maintains schedule and cost control files.
- Performs schedule and cost data indexing and coding activities under the supervision of an employee in a higher classification.
- Verifies schedule and cost-input information and utilizes the computer to edit schedule and cost information under the supervision of an employee in a higher classification.
- Checks and corrects completed schedule and cost reports and prepares and distributes reports as necessary under the supervision of an employee in a higher classification.
- Initiates licenses and permits.
- Orders and receives material.
- Performs technical work associated with construction activities such as cost estimating, simple drafting
- Prepares and corrects field drawings.
- Perform contract management and Purchase Order activities
- Prepares construction notes.
- DOT-Operations/Maintenance AND Emergency
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License
- Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds a minimum of one time a day
Desired:
- Experience in contract management
- Experience in construction/construction management
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word)
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
- Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarter upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees as to how long you will be away from home
- Additional consideration may be given to candidates that reside within 50 miles of the headquarters
