Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Herndon, VA with some remote work possible. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton’s Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative will modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers. As part of the modernization program, the Technical Project Manager will maintain the vision for software development in alignment with the CSM program and ensure that this vision is adequately addressed and implemented consistently across all project teams and efforts for which the manager is responsible.
Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assumes a technical leadership role for system and software delivery within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)-based team structure, collaborating with internal agile and shared services teams as well as within the customer organization
- Works with solution train management to align team assignments with prioritized product backlogs and ensures customer priorities are addressed
- Works with architecture team to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements to acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Understands system and software requirements to ensure software compliance standards are addressed by agile teams
- Responsible for the direct supervision/management of agile team staff
- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves team deficiencies, impediments to progress, and escalates when necessary to ensure on time delivery of high quality solutions
- Develops and recommends corrective actions and process improvements as necessary
- Participates in customer planning sessions and project implementations
- Provides frequent inter-organizational and customer contact related to specific agile team work
- Acts as the line manager for agile teams: responsible for conducting employee performance reviews, timesheet reviews/approvals, career guidance, and travel expense approvals, among other administrative tasks.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required; must have a Current, Interim Secret (or higher) clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10-12 years’ experience, or Master’s Degree and 8-10 years experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 14 minimum relevant years of experience
- Two (2) years’ technical lead/management experience with software engineering projects
- Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, implementation, test, integration, and maintenance
- Experience supporting a system implementation program using agile methodologies and deriving delivery schedules
- Experience with application lifecycle tooling, including those related to agile project management, version control, continuous integration, code scanning, automated testing, and issue tracking
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to prepare briefings, proposals, and similar documents
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management experience as a line manager responsible for: employee performance reviews, timesheet reviews/approvals, career guidance, and travel expense approvals
- Prior experience supporting the Department of State (DOS)
- Experience using engineering environments and tools that support Agile Software Development, such as IBM Rational Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM)
- Prior experience with earned value and how to organize a project team and the scope of work, using a work breakdown structure
- Experience withSAFee methodology on a program/project
- Holds a SAFe certification

Salary Range
Salary Minimum: $72,500
Salary Mid: $145,000
Salary Maximum: $181,300
The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton’s total compensation package for employees.
