We are looking for:

  • The Product Steward role is based in the Oil & Gas business unit providing regulatory expertise and guidance to the business in line with the SolvayGroup’s purpose.
  • This position will report directly to the Global Product Stewardship Manager for Oil & Gas.
  • The person will be responsible for regulatory compliance and product stewardship support to the Americasregion, including TSCA, FIFRA biocide, Canadian regulatory compliance, and Export Control focus areas.
  • Support to other regions may be required.

We count on you for:

  • Work with defined business areas, regulatory agencies, and consultants to ensure product-specific regulatory compliance in relation to biocides and general chemicals.
  • Provide product stewardship support and guidance, review pertinent regulatory developments, inform business and technical contacts and work with specific business groups to develop alternate business strategies, where necessary.
  • Complete new product introduction product stewardship assessments (NPDi) for defined business activities, including TSCA polymer exemption reviews and CAS number assessments.
  • Support the development and maintenance of SDSs (Safety Data Sheets), labels, Dangerous Goods, and other hazard communication information for defined business areas.
  • Provide support to manufacturing sites and warehouses for the same.
  • Propose regulatory submission strategies and achieve chemical inventory listings in support of business strategies.
  • Respond to customer issues, questions and concerns.
  • Create and maintain product stewardship records relating to company products, intermediates, and raw materials.
  • Work with product stewardship staff from other zones and GBUs (Global Business Units) on common issues, goals, and objectives.
  • Conduct assessments and ensure proper implementation of the product safety/product stewardship management system, programs, and practices.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for product safety information on company products.
  • Interact extensively with internal and external customers, both domestic and international.
  • Maintain broad technical expertise in FIFRA, TSCA, Canadian New Substances, Notification regulations and other substance control regulations.
  • Keep abreast of and assess international chemical control laws and emerging regulatory developments through reference sources.
  • Support the Export Compliance effort of the Americas business, including material classifications.
  • Develop and deliver chemical regulatory and product stewardship training to the business and technical teams.

You will bring:

  • Master or Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, preferably Polymer Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years chemical industry experience in product stewardship or regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient computer skills, including SAP EHS experience.
  • Highly motivated, results driven with unyielding predisposition to detail, accuracy and clarity.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Performs duties with the highest ethical standards, exercising sound judgment.
  • Strong collaborative behavior.
  • English (fluent).

You will get:

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $80,000.00 to $115,000.00. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
