Digital UX Designer (Open to Remote)

Penguin Random House is looking for a motivated and organized User Experience (UX) Designer to join our highly collaborative Corporate Design team.

Our team is working to reimagine and build several customer applications and websites, and a variety of internal tools used throughout the company. You will be responsible for conducting user research through interviews and surveys then translating your findings into sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to understand business strategies and user needs and to translate these into design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions, translating analysis into concepts, and concepts into intuitive user experiences
  • Conduct research and analyze content, workflows, and usage patterns through audits, surveys, user interviews, and usability testing. Clearly document and present research findings and designs to working teams and stakeholders, advocating for user needs
  • Translate your findings into information architecture models, user stories, and user flows
  • Design wireframes based on user stories and user journeys and deliver prototypes for desktop and mobile with accessibility in mind
  • Collaborate directly with other design team members and business stakeholders
  • Rapidly test and iterate on in-progress designs
  • Create technical documentation that articulates functionality to developers
  • Support continuous improvement of UX strategies, tools, documentation, and processes
  • Take smart risks and champion new ideas

Please apply if you meet the following requirements:

  • 3+ years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience, in an agency or similar, in designing solutions for complex and content-rich digital applications
  • Strong interest in all things UX and other areas of design, knowledge of the latest trends and technologies, and a willingness to learn new skills and workflows
  • A solid grasp of user testing methodologies and usability standards
  • Experience with working directly with clients, auditing and analyzing requirements
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills (written & verbal), as well as an ability to work independently. Openness to feedback and constructive criticism
  • Experience with design software, such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Interest in graphic & UI design will be considered a plus
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and WordPress will be considered a plus
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and project management, software such as JIRA, will be considered a plus

The ideal candidate will have experience in an agency or equivalent environment, designing solutions for complex and content-rich digital applications and these candidates would be eligible for a salary of $72,000 – $85,000. Less experienced UX designers would be eligible for a salary of $60,000 – $72,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
