We are looking for a Laboratory Animal Technician to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in Bethesda, MD.

What you will do!
In the role of a Laboratory Animal Technician, your responsibilities include assisting with maintaining accurate records of animal importations, breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas by preparing and submitting written reports, charts, logs, and/or inventories. You will assist with maintaining the Rodent Colony Health surveillance program and submission by conducting daily health examinations and clinical observations of the colony, then report any adverse findings. You will also provide environmental enrichment and/or behavioral assessments, as well as perform any required animal husbandry duties.
This role actively interacts with management, facility veterinarian(s), and investigators to manage customer requests, inquiries, and complaints. Familiarity with and ability to apply/use various forms of anesthetic, plus additional technical support. This role also assists in determining training needs, as well as developing and presenting training for staff and investigators. In this position, you may be tasked with providing quality assurance, to include animal health surveillance; monitoring of the effectiveness of facility sanitation, cage washing, and autoclaving procedures; monitoring of incoming animal shipments for container integrity and animal health; monitoring the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); as well as completing internal facility reports for monitoring deviations from pre-established parameters.
Job Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
A candidate with a high school diploma or GED. Two years’ experience in a laboratory animal facility performing animal husbandry and clinical support required. Current ALAT certification, with the drive to become LAT certified within six months of eligibility.
The pay for this position is $25.00 USD per hour.
