About the role:

The Director of Commerce Activation brings expertise in biddable Commerce media – Search & Programmatic – to the GroupM Commerce team, ensuring seamless integration of performance-led Retail Media efforts into holistic Commerce strategy, delivering best-in-class results across GroupM agencies.

This role will bring to bear GroupM’s position as a market leader in Commerce to inform, shape, and implement the most advanced performance-led strategies and solutions to unlock new growth opportunities across biddable channels for clients.

As the central voice of Commerce Activation for GroupM, this role is responsible for ensuring agency teams translate our client’s business briefs into jobs to be done, ensures collaboration across biddable channels to maximize client outcomes, and creates frameworks for teams working with retail media networks to develop performance projections and scenarios based on campaign parameters. This role embodies the spirit of Commerce activation by serving as ‘player-coach’ when overseeing the flawless execution of campaigns.

As a member of the GroupM Commerce team, you will have the opportunity to work across client accounts and have influence on our internal capabilities’ roadmap, foster retail partnerships and lead highly dynamic cross-functional project teams. This role will collaborate with GroupM Commerce leadership in North America to infuse the best of our network capabilities into our client’s day-to-day deliverables. An entrepreneurial spirit with a bias for action and problem-solving is necessary to be successful in this role.

Your Impact:

  • Drive improvement in biddable commerce activation with key agency stakeholders to uplevel how we serve GroupM Commerce clients across agencies
  • Serve as SME for agency and client teams to help navigate the Commerce activation landspace and utilize GroupM Commerce capabilities to service solutions
  • Work closely with agency-imbedded teams (search & programmatic) to deliver best-in-class campaign execution that accomplish client’s business objectives
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements that can help teams work better together and with our clients
  • Drive incorporation of cross-channel testing and optimization strategies
  • Develop frameworks, case studies, trainings and other content to continuously raise the bar of biddable Commerce media-buying teams
  • Own relationships with select priority Commerce partners to ensure development & delivery of best-in-class biddable campaigns
  • Stay up to date on changing marketplace dynamics surrounding ad products, technology and measurement across search and programmatic partners
  • Drive the adoption of GroupM Commerce for new business and existing accounts

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in biddable performance media execution, with a focus on retail media
  • Experience in campaign management and optimization across Amazon, Instacart, Walmart, Target, Kroger, Criteo, Google, Meta, etc.
  • Expertise in commerce SaaS platforms such as Pacvue and Skai
  • Proven track record of success in executing commerce campaigns that achieve business objectives
  • Deep understanding of the retail landscape and the latest trends in commerce media
  • Advanced knowledge of measurement capabilities and restrictions in 3rd party partners
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data and develop insights that inform strategy and optimization
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to clients and internal stakeholders
  • A self-starter attitude that thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to coordinate projects across multiple teams and functions

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $100,000 to $230,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
