About the Role
Dow Jones is looking for a Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications to oversee the global communications. This is a unique opportunity to lead corporate communications in a fast and at a modern news, data and insight-led business. You will build strategy, develop messaging and lead actionable plans to protect and strengthen the Dow Jones brand as a trusted source of information and further develop our reputation for high-quality journalism, insights and innovation.
You will lead internal and external resources to enhance – and – protect the reputation of the company, its people and our products. As our top communications professional, they will design, stand up and drive a focused and creative communications strategy that makes use of traditional and new communications channels, and will be an indispensable contributor to positioning our company with all key constituents and team members.
You will be someone with a customer (employee) centric mindset, depth in media/news, who can lead a cohesive team, communicate a compelling vision, and energize the team behind this vision. As the Communications Lead, you will be a trusted advisor and culture leader across our organization. You will be based in our New York City office.
You Will:
Communications and Amplification Strategy
- Lead corporate communications including public relations, internal, external, executive, and financial communications
- Guide Dow Jones’ effort to enhance the mission and position of the company as a leader in journalistic excellence and innovation – amplifying content and offerings – with a core messaging platform that engages with all contributors
- Develop and implement proactive media relations programs and strategies – across traditional and non-traditional channels – balancing immediate needs with longer term goals, to favorably position Dow Jones and its leadership with subscribers and within the media
- Guide publicity for Dow Jones journalists and thought leadership and visibility for our executives
- Orchestrate the collaboration with other teams, including Newsrooms, Marketing and Experience to foster awareness and support for products, offerings, brand narratives and campaigns to maximize the impact across all our team members
Internal Branding
- Plan and orchestrate communications and tell the our story internally, to help shape a culture centered around brand pride at all levels and areas of the organization
- Create a diverse, more empowered and innovation oriented corporate culture
Financial Communications
- Work with the Investor Relations team to establish and refine the corporate narrative, with compelling messages to support the brands and corporate reputation worldwide
Reputation and Crisis Management
- Direct our media and crisis communications with partners including employees, shareholders and media
- Conduct scenario planning for mitigating potential risks. Lead rapid response efforts to address issues, including protecting our journalists in high risk areas, geopolitical impacts on journalism and business, and manage press inquiries in the midst of intensity or crisis
- Remain unflappable during times of crisis and serve as a trusted advisor to executive team as crises arise
Executive and Team member Management
- Be the trusted communications advisor to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and business leaders
- Work with a broad range of team members, including News Corp. and the Dow Jones’ portfolio of brands
- Direct executive communications and speechwriting, including presentations, op-eds and speaking opportunities for our senior leaders
You Have:
- 15+ years of experience leading communications teams
- 10+ years of experience specifically related to external communications & Crisis Communication
- The ability to easily translate our goals into communications strategies
- Demonstrated excellence in media relations and crisis management, in an always-on environment
- Successes as a thought leader who has shown to move with and ahead of industry trends
- Depth in traditional and digital media
- Influential relationships at all levels in a global matrix organization, with experience consulting C-suite executives
- The ability to balance interests across team members while maintaining the safety and soundness of the company, and ensuring a customer/employee lens
- Experience leading a team and experience cultivating strong performing and diverse teams, and company culture
- Experience building and maintaining a business relationships in a hybrid environment
- A Master’s degree in Marketing or Communications (highly preferred)

Pay Range: $140,000 – $450,000
