- Have the ability to work independently with minimal oversight and have a demonstrated ability to follow through on projects in a timely manner.
- Have a genuine interest in learning the role of in-house IP counsel in a fast-paced global corporate environment.
- Have strong desire to build skills in contracting engagement and review process.
- Are comfortable performing legal research and drafting memoranda for various matters pertaining to the organization.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Under attorney supervision, draft and review office action responses, issue spot and comment/redline office action responses, patent applications, and other legal documents.
- Support invention disclosures intake, technology classification of disclosures and patent applications.
- Assist the IP Team with freedom-to-operate & patentability search and analysis,.
- Perform other tasks and special projects related to the IP function.
- Report on your progress in a timely manner.
Qualifications
The Skills Needed for the Job
- Rising 2L or 3L currently enrolled full-time at an accredited law school.
- Interest in learning about role of in-house counsel.
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, biomechanical engineering, material science and engineering, medical devices and instrumentation engineering, biomedical physics, and physics.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
