Summary

This is a skilled position controlling production and load out of materials produced in plants. The plant operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of plant equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.

United Companies will train the right person as a plant operator if you have some experience around an asphalt plant.

WAGE Range: $25 – $32 dependent on Experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reads work schedules and determines sequence of operations.
  • Operates plant according to production schedule using appropriate materials.
  • Monitor material operation to ensure quality of mix.
  • Performs basic maintenance and service on plant as required.
  • Ability to weld using an arc welder or cutting torch is preferred.
  • Cleans control house and yard facility daily.
  • Oversee truck scales and the loading of the trucks.
  • Enters production information into computer systems.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise plant employees.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) perferred; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondences and memos.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory and Order processing systems; uses job specific computer system for ticketing and two way radio for communications.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Drivers License required. CDL a plus.
