Position Overview
MERS Goodwill is looking for a passionate individual ideally with social service experience to provide one-on-one supportive services to individuals ages 17-24 who are seeking their High School Diploma/GED. The Career Specialist will assess basic needs, identify barriers to education and employment, development an Individual Employment Plan to address those barriers, and coordinate services to successfully complete their education plan and secure living wage jobs. The ideal candidate must be able to manage all communication, paperwork, and case management with proficient computer skills. This position will provide direct support and travel within two counties, Madison and Bond.
Primary Duties:
- Recruit, collect required document verification, establish eligibility and conduct intake interviews with potential participants.
- Assess and develop IEP with program participants, enrolling in the program case management system.
- Conduct individual/group sessions as needed for program orientation and/or Job Readiness Training.
- Work with participants to meet program performance outcomes in enrollments, credential, placement, skills gains and retention goals.
- Develop and maintain consistent communication and working relationships with participants, referring staff, partner agency, and internal team.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of required outcome reporting system as required by state and local guidelines.
- Maintain clint files with all required agency funding source paperwork and complete all paperwork in a timely manner; maintain confidentiality according to federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Develop knowledge of community resources that can utilized to support consumer needs (i.e. transportation, medical, childcare, utilities, housing etc.)
- Model workplace appropriate attire, interactions, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Requirements:
Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in working with youth preferred. Must be highly organized and keep information confidential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required, knowledge of online databases strongly preferred. A Driver’s License, valid insurance, and a vehicle that can be used for business purposes (with mileage reimbursement).
