General Summary

The Manager, Privacy and Information Security leads the areas of Personal Data Privacy & Information Security Management (ISM) for Murata in the Americas ensuring that business operations are performed in compliance with privacy laws, regulations and internal company policies, while minimizing risks, and in the support of our business’s abilities to meet its customer commitments and company objectives. Directly responsible for North America, and liaison with counterparts in Murata’s offices in Mexico and South America.

The role includes oversight of compliance to established privacy policies while also coordinating the company’s readiness to comply with emerging laws. The ISM aspect of the role includes supporting Murata’s policies and processes towards the continual strengthening of the security of Murata IP, confidential information, and information assets in the Americas.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Implement programs and actions resulting in increasing strength in the Personal Data Privacy and ISM areas, while not impeding the company’s ability to deliver on its commitments to customers.
  • Develop training programs and internal communication efforts to assure ongoing awareness and understanding by all employees.
  • Support post-merger integration (PMI) of acquired companies.
  • Assure Murata Americas compliance to personal data privacy laws relative to customers, prospects, business partners, and prospective employees.
  • Assess company processes in Canada, Mexico, and South America with an eye toward future support requirements.
  • Is the internal subject matter expert capable to address most inquiries relative to laws and company policies. Determines when circumstances and risks warrant the need for external counsel.
  • Maintain and update privacy procedures, training materials, and other supporting materials.
  • Support audits, including gathering facts and information to coordinate company responses to external audits and customers’ inquiries.
  • Address Personal Identifiable Information (PII) inquiries submitted through our CCPA request system.
  • Provide guidance as needed to Digital Marketing lead generation activities, lead management system, website operations, and e-commerce initiatives.
  • Provide operational support and strategic guidance of Murata Americas ISM activities and Murata’s global system.

Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in the identification of scalable solutions to support Murata Americas expansion and Murata’s global objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Certification in Information Privacy Security.
  • Minimum three years of related experience with a B2B company in electronics, industrial or technology areas.
  • Expert level understanding of CCPA and familiarity with emerging regulations in the US, along with a basic understanding of privacy laws in Canada, South America and Mexico.
  • Experience developing and maintaining policies and guidelines.
  • Experience collaborating with Legal Counsel, external audit and compliance staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of broad aspects of IT systems, information security, and data asset management.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce CRM platform.
  • Experience supporting digital marketing & promotion activities.
  • Knowledge of Murata’s product types & target markets.
  • Experience working within a culturally diverse company, particularly with co-workers in Japan.

Minimum Base Salary: $86,185

Maximum Base Salary: $122,539
