Lead Residential Services Coordinator

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks a Lead Resident Services Coordinator to provide guidance and coordination with Resident Service Coordinators across Coalition properties to develop creative programs, establish and oversee partnerships that support residents in successfully maintaining housing, accessing education and employment services, and contributing to a positive sense of community at a permanent supportive housing facility for formerly homeless individuals. This position will assist with training all RSCs on the standard work and processes associated with Housing Retention Committee procedures as well as facilitate and oversee meetings at numerous Coalition owned properties. This position is located at 25 E. 16th Ave., Denver, Colorado 80202and reports to the Program Manager.

Essential Job Functions

1. Provides excellent internal and external customer service, behaving in a manner that cultivates trust, respect, and teamwork.

2. Training and overseeing the standard work of Resident Service Coordinators across CCH properties.

3. Creates standard work documents for Housing Retention Sub/Committees (HRSC) while disseminating and training on the standard work across the organization to include property management and programs staff.

4. Provide oversight and training for properties that will implement modified housing retention process, including training implementation of protocol and tracking tools, and provide facilitation coverage, as needed.

5. Ensures consistency of standard work across properties with regard to the HRC process while attending blended management and Housing Retention meetings.

6. Increase resident knowledge around visitor policy, compliance requirements, housekeeping, budgeting, and monthly inspections through oversight of resident orientation activities/processes.

7. Assists with engagement in mental health and substance abuse treatment services through an interdisciplinary team approach to increase participants’ housing retention, income stability, health and wellness, and social connectedness.

8. Works collaboratively on effectively preparing residents for successful engagement and housing retention.

9. Maintains strong communication and cooperation with social services and property management staff. Participates within an interdisciplinary team focused on creating a positive living environment at a permanent supportive housing facility.

10. Builds rapport and establishes on-going communication with residents, individually and collectively, to determine areas of need. Works collaboratively with property management, program services departments, community partners, and social service providers to address short- and long-term needs of program participants/property residents.

11. Establishes consistent practices for supporting residents in identifying, discussing and resolving issues related to the individual and community environments. Areas may involve, but are not limited to, cooperative living, self-care practices, financial management, medical and mental health needs, and employment.

12. Effectively assess and diffuses crisis situations that may occur on-site by using de-escalation techniques, calling proper authorities in the event of an emergency, and thoroughly communicating and documenting incidents and outcomes as appropriate.

13. Documents delivered services in compliance within grant/agency expectations and timeframes.

14. Creates and develops residential events, community building activities, and educational opportunities, based on residents’ needs and interests. This includes supporting Resident Service Coordinators to deliver appropriate community engagement opportunities with accordance to client needs, property needs, program models, and grant requirements.

15. Coordinates after-hours services with case managers and other CCH departments to optimize service delivery to individual residents when needed.

16. Advises property managers, service providers, and voucher administrators around the specific needs and challenges of each resident.

17. Remains current on knowledge of best practices in fair housing, substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, and supportive housing by effectively utilizing clinical supervision, continuing education opportunities, and attends conferences and symposia related to these subject areas.

18. Communicates frequently with the supportive services team and other senior management staff to ensure information flows constantly and in both directions via supportive services team meetings and other RPMC weekly meetings.

Qualifications Summary

1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field required.

2. Experience providing educational and/or social services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness or co-occurring disorders.

3. Experience in mental health, substance use, permanent supportive housing, crisis intervention, and Trauma Informed Care strongly preferred.

4. Demonstrated competency in working with people from diverse backgrounds and ability levels.

5. Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with property management, Supportive Services staff, and representatives from other agencies.
