Summary

Troubleshoot and repair major brand washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, and electric appliances. Work various schedules and hours as required. Must safeguard all Company tools and equipment. This position is home based reporting assigned to Northern Gas Division and performs all work for which pre-qualified. Must be able to read schematics and wiring diagrams and be proficient in the use of tools and equipment relating to the trade, such as multi-meters, pressure gauges, etc.
Per the Bargaining Unit Agreement, this position has a 5 year lock-in period for both the department and location.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Performs duties such as:
1. Troubleshooting and adjusting automatic white and electric appliances and associated electrical control equipment of any type, size, kind, or complexity, including commercial and industrial equipment; investigating complaints of unsatisfactory performance of all types of appliances and unsatisfactory performance of all types of appliances and controls; investigating complaints from customers on automatic equipment beyond the scope of employees of lesser grades; locating and remedying sources of trouble; checking operation of equipment to determine completeness and adequacy of repairs; testing operation and efficiency of equipment.
2. Making repairs to and installing those repair parts on automatic type appliances that may involve the adjustment of automatic controls of any type or complexity.

Essential requirements:
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have successfully passed the Gas Battery test or if applicable White Goods hands on skills test administered by the Company.
• Must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey Driver’s License
• 2+ years field experience.
• Must possess Type I or Universal refrigerant certification.
• Must demonstrate, through written and hands on testing, a thorough knowledge of stated experience.

Desired Skills –
Desirables include technical school training and /or related college courses, and ability to troubleshoot and repair major brand gas appliances other than washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, and electric appliances.
