Saw Operator

Position Overview

The Saw Operator is responsible for assisting in the construction of roadways by performing deep cut flat saw work proficiently, safely and in accordance with company standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs deep cut flat saw work proficiently and safely utilizing specialized road saws
  • Inspects, lubricates, refuels, and performs safety and quality checks on all equipment used
  • Reports any equipment issues, malfunctions, and damages to the adequate team member to repair or replace equipment in a timely manner
  • Performs general laborer duties including set up, tear down and job site and equipment maintenance
  • Adheres to all safety company policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor exposed to weather elements, noise, dust, rain and temperature extremes (hot/cold)
  • Ability to independently lift 50 – 75lb
  • Ability to operate computer and/or other related equipment
  • Ability to follow safe work practices and wear all required personal protection equipment for the task (safety glasses/shield, hardhat, safety boots and gloves)
  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Must demonstrate effective decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and deal with challenges/issues
  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • Proven ability to adapt to an ever-changing schedules
  • Ability to absorb and retain formalized training
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary.
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight to perform work at other branches

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience performing saw cutting duties is required
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License
