General Description:

General Function:

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator II for the Ready, Set, Go program, the Program Associate is responsible for providing direct support to the day to day operations of the Kindergarten Readiness and Family Engagement program at Fairview Elementary School. The RSG Program Associate will support in person Parent-Child Interaction Groups (PCIG’s), virtual PCIG classes via Zoom and Parenting Groups. This includes lesson planning, leading physical activities class, coordinating volunteers, and building trusting relationships with program participants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support all the activities planned by the Program Coordinator
  • Support Program lead trainings and events
  • Support all needs for Parent-Child Interaction group including set-up and clean-up
  • Support Parent Education classes in English and Spanish
  • Support purchasing needs for RSG programming with MFS provided funding
  • Maintain a high-quality preschool environment to the Ready, Set, Go! Standards
  • Support development bi-weekly planning with a health and wellness focus for all activities including Physical Activity class
  • Recruit, outreach and register families of the programs
  • Recruit and provided training for program volunteers
  • Attend regularly occurring supervision meetings with Program Coordinator, Program Staff, and Agency
  • Organize and maintain program file and documentation as required
  • Apply assessments when needed
  • Maintain up-to-date data entry into the agency database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO)

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Training and a minimum of 2 years of experience in social services, parent education, and social service program development
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in language(s) in addition to English is preferred Language(s) preferred are Spanish or Russian
  • Ability to provide strength-based resource and referral services to families
  • Experience working in a public-school setting and/or with the early learning community
  • Experience working in collaboration with a variety of agencies and programs
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups
  • Ability to maintain appropriate and professional relationships with clients and volunteers

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Certification, Associates, or higher education degree in Early Childhood Education or minimum of 2 years of classroom experience in Early Childhood Education (ages preferred 0-3; 3-5)

Other Requirements:

Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment, at community events, and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. Position requires the ability to sit for extended periods as well as stand occasionally. Position requires use of computer, telephone, fax machine, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.
