Based on job duties, this position is designated as telework eligible on a hybrid basis (i.e., working at least 2 days per week in the office); the selected applicant must complete the initial training period prior to being eligible to telework. All requests to telework are reviewed and must be approved by ODOTs Chief Human Resources Officer.

What You Will Do:
- Help rollout and gather data for a statewide GIS based inventory solution for ITS devices
- Perform Quality Control checks and data standardization for gathered field data
- Aid in statewide training for the ITS inventory collection
- Support office in various other duties relating to Traffic Signal Operation, Ramp Meter Operation, and ITS device operation.

Official Position Description:
Under general supervision, this student assists supervisor in the Office of Traffic Operations & receives training in traffic signal design & operation. Develops operational checklists, equipment status reports, signal corridor layouts, & phase diagrams utilizing a computer & various software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word). Assists staff engineers in plan reviews, signal timing analysis, standards, & purchasing & service contracts utilizing various traffic signal software. Under guidance, programs controllers, modems, radios, & network switches. Performs data collection for plan design & travel time studies in the field & performs data collection for Statewide Asset Collection using GIS mapping. Actively communicates with internal & District staff regarding project status updates, device configurations & device status, training needs, budgeting, & purchasing.
Uses a computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Office) & creates visualizations (e.g., charts) for reports & presentations. Communicates verbally & in writing to various ODOT staff to receive requests & information & to provide information & data. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
This is a temporary position involving various duties that permit exposure to the student’s field of study &/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the student’s education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.

The rate of pay is based upon the student’s academic status
Freshman and Sophomore – $15.46 per hour
Junior and Senior – $15.96 per hour
Graduate Students – $19.41 per hour
