Vet Job Fair- 4/19-Recreation Leader

The City of North Las Vegas announces a posting to create an eligibility list and to fill one (3) vacancies for the classification of Recreation Leader. This vacancy is in the Neighborhood and Leisure Services Department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one hundred twenty (120) days.

These positions will be assigned to the following areas:

Recreation Leader – Safekey

Recreation Leader – Aquatics

Recreation Leader – Events

NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:

Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, non-probationary employees successfully completing the qualification assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to one hundred and twenty (120) days.

Pay – The starting hourly pay for this position is $21.88 (step 1). All new employees hired for this position will start at step 1 of the range; no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
Work Schedule – In-person, not a telework position, Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Must be able to work any shift or days of the week.
Selection Process
o Oral Panel Interview, weighted 100%, Passing Score 70% (Best qualified candidates)
o Selection Interview (Top candidates only)

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.

THE ROLE:

Implements and coordinates the day-to-day programming of recreation facilities, including Adaptive, Safekey, Seniors, Sports, Special Events, Golf Course, Aquatics and other programs and/or varied recreational activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience
• Two years college or university with course study in recreation, physical education or closely related field, and
• Two years of recent work experience in the coordination of recreation programs/recreational activities, physical education or closely related field.
• Equivalency: Four years of recent work experience in the coordination of recreation programs/recreational activities, physical education or closely related field OR possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or closely related field may be substituted for the education and experience required above.

Licenses and Certifications
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
• Valid First Aid Certification at time of application.
• Valid CPR Certification at time of application.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Working conditions are typically loud.
