Purpose: Helps elevate manager to the next level by developing strategic thinking and skills to motivate staff. This role oversees additional areas while balancing existing design responsibilities. Helps manage the creation and execution of original concepts for multiple categories within the Division. Required to train and develop staff in an environment that promotes creativity while maintaining accountability for meeting company deadlines and objectives. Works very closely with Design Director to help coordinate and create color palettes; determine seasonal concepts, establish print, pattern, fabric, and trim direction. Assists management in directing team members to develop products that maintain a unified point of view. Design and help others design products from concept through completion with a focus on function, quality and creativity. Develop and direct product standards and strive for design innovation. Work closely with merchandising and product development counterparts to ensure company objectives are met with regard to product timing and integrity. Continually assess the competition to identify opportunities for new businesses in underserved markets. Uphold the highest standards of excellence in communication to establish and maintain strong relationships with both team members and all Pacific Sunwear business partners.
Compensation range : $105,944- $118,087

Responsibilities
- Helps Design Director develop strategic approach to the business while beginning to train and motivate a small group of employees he/she is now managing.
- Required to design products from concept through completion within the deadlines established by seasonal calendar.
- Works with Design Director to conceive color, pattern and seasonal themes and then helps motivate the design team to creatively contribute to these fashion trends. Shops fabric and trim market to help determine the direction for the division and how these components would be best utilized to convey newness and help distinguish the product from the competition. Responsible for following through and executing these concepts in his/her own area as well as making sure others have as well.
- Continually evaluate the competition and demonstrate firm commitment to maintain and improve brand positioning.

Qualifications
Education/Experience Required:
- Four-year Bachelor Degree preferred in either the Arts or Sciences
- Management practical experience and training preferred.
- Adobe illustrator and Photoshop skills.
- PDM training and experience preferred.
- Timely sense of trends and market direction encompassing color, fabric and silhouette.
- Working knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, textiles and current finishing techniques and processes.
- At least 8 years solid design experience, which includes fabric sourcing, technical design, trim development and color training and practical experience.

- The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
- Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
- Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.
- Hotel, Airplane, and Car Travel Required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. As an International Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
