SUMMARY: To provide safe and efficient transportation for students in specialized programs so they may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obeys all traffic laws
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school vehicles
- Maintains discipline when students are in vehicle
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority
- Keeps assigned vehicle clean
- Keeps to assigned schedule
- Checks vehicles before each operation for mechanical defects
- Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness
- Discharges students only at authorized stops
- Transports only authorized students
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports
- Must be able to work nights and weekends if needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of modern methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work
- Knowledge of the proper care and storage of custodial equipment and materials
- Knowledge of dilution of cleaning chemicals/conversion of pH charts and of the use of MSDS
- Ability to recognize potential safety problems and to take steps to prevent hazards
- Ability to operate modern mechanical equipment such as floor vacuums (wet and dry), floor buffers, carpet shampoo and steam cleaners, mops, brooms, dust pans, ladders, small hand tools, computer (timecard entry) and vehicles
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members
- Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- Valid AZ. Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Successfully complete District Training
- Provide driving record from the MVD annually or as requested
