Construction Manager – Superintendent

Position Impact

Gannett Fleming is looking for an experienced Construction Manager – Superintendent that will be responsible for overseeing safety, quality, and schedule while directing all field construction operations for a life sciences facility in the Greater Raleigh-Durham area. The successful Construction Superintendent will be responsible to direct and supervise subcontractors to assure the requirements of the project are met with respect to safety, schedule, quality control, cost control and customer satisfaction. Overall, the Construction Superintendent is expected to provide construction management and general contracting services that meets the highest level of quality. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Interface with all on-site work teams (including subcontractors) as required, to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, scheduling, and achieving schedules in support of overall project objectives.
  • Develop and maintain on-site logistics plans and procedures for the field operations
  • Maintain close coordination with design (architects and engineers), estimating, and Gannett Fleming project management team to assure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule; communicate effectively with project management team to assist in accurate contract items lists and shop drawing schedules; lead weekly project team meetings to ensure open communication and swift issue resolution
  • Develop, update, and maintain the Project Schedule as needed; including a master schedule, look ahead schedules, and prepare daily construction reports
  • Establish and maintain document control to assure work is aligned with latest design documentation and approved shop drawings
  • Develop and maintain the Site Safety Plan; assure proactive and continuous maintenance of the safety program and conduct weekly safety meetings, regular toolbox talks, and safety pre-task meetings as needed
  • Conduct weekly foreman and superintendent meetings; assure minutes are prepared and distributed accurately and timely
  • Assure required risk controls are properly established and maintained per corporate operations policies and procedure manual

The Qualifications You’ll Need

  • BS in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred
  • AAS Construction Management Technology
  • 7- 10 years’ experience in facilities construction, preferably in manufacturing and life sciences.
  • Proficient in reading/interpreting engineering/construction drawings.
  • Proficient in reading/interpreting construction specifications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience with Procore or SharePoint a plus.
  • Familiar with OHSA/MOSH regulations.
  • MDE Erosion Sediment Control green card preferred but not required.
  • Requires proficiency with MS Word and possess computer skills required to complete daily reporting efficiently and review and respond to email promptly and professionally
  • Must possess a driver’s license to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $140,000

Core Business Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
