Grants & Contracts Officer II

Description:

The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking to hire an experienced Grants & Contracts Officer II. This position will perform post-award activities for the college’s large, complex, and diverse portfolio of federal, state, local, and private grants, including contracts and agreements. Post-award activities include broad duties in award management.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Grants & Contracts Officer II are the following:

  • Assist PIs in assigned departments with monthly expenditure review of sponsored projects, including reviewing project ledgers monthly for accuracy in payroll and non-payroll expenses. Send monthly expenditure reports to PIs and collect the signed copies. Address any issues noted on the expenditure review forms. Create, maintain and send projections for sponsored projects monthly to PIs. Assist the PI with managing their funding through the life of their award.
  • Initiate post-award actions on sponsored projects in GSU systems including no cost extension requests, cost transfers, award set-up, award close outs, residual transfers and administrative changes to awards. Work in collaboration with OSPA on the submission and completion of these actions.
  • Assist PIs in assigned departments with interpreting local, state and federal guidelines for sponsored project spending. Assist in determining allowable and unallowable expenses on open projects. Work in collaboration with OSPA and college departments on ensuring compliance on sponsored project expenditures.
  • Work with PIs on effort tracking, reporting, and ensuring effort commitments are met on sponsored awards.
  • Assist PIs and collaborate with other college staff on a variety of forms that may be necessary for sponsored projects including sub-awards, payroll, travel and other expenses.
  • Keep post-award files updated and maintained for their assigned departments on a shared drive for the College of Arts and Sciences research administration team.
  • Work collaboratively with pre-award Grants & Contract Officers in the CAS on various issues.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Certified Research Administrator; experience with software/tools such as personnel effort reporting system (ex: ERS), financial system (ex: Oracle PeopleSoft Financials), HR system (ex: OneUSG), procurement system (ex: SciQuest/PantherMart), and MS Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint.)
