The Opportunity

The Installed Base Products and Engineering group is responsible for supply of innovative products, modernized equipment, and high value engineering expertise and specialty services to the entire operating commercial nuclear fleet in the US, the DOE, and Advanced Reactors. This Civil/Structural opportunity is located in our offices in Lynchburg, VA or Charlotte, NC.

What You’ll Do at Framatome

You will work alongside industry experts on projects involving various nuclear power plant design changes, which includes analysis of plant structure and equipment. Analysis includes consideration of various loads including wind, snow, earthquake, thermal, settlement, various accidents, and dead weight. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and review analyses, calculation files, and associated records
  • Use optimization tools and automation to streamline the analyses
  • Work along side experienced engineers to develop innovative solutions for the existing nuclear fleet

Required Experience

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering completed by start date plus a minimum 2 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). Candidates with an advanced degree and/or experience may be considered for a higher level position.

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Have or are working towards obtaining your Professional Engineer license
  • Previous utility plant experience
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code and AISC Steel Construction Manual.
  • Nuclear industry engineering experience or previous Naval Nuclear program
  • Construction or fabrication experience
  • Civil / structural analysis, including familiarity with software tools such as ANSYS, AutoPIPE, LS-DYNA, GT STRUDL, SASSI, SolidWorks, and/or SUPERPIPE
  • Experience reading and understanding architectural drawings
  • Technical writing experience and solid writing communication ability
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage daily work assignments

Our total rewards package

The range of base salary for the position is between $70,000 – $92,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
