Description:Lockheed Martin is excited to lead the way in hypersonic missile development, and we would like you to be a part of it! The Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program is part of our more extensive hypersonics portfolio and is designing and fielding the hypersonic boost/glide system for the US Army and Navy. Our NGC-SW Integrated Product Team (IPT) within CPS is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and verifying the software that sequences and controls the missile’s hardware. This includes the Navigation, Guidance, and Control (NG&C or GN&C) subsystem, which flies the missile and glide body, and the embedded Flight Software (FSW) which hosts the NG&C algorithms and provides health, status, and sequencing for the entire system. Additionally, we develop and maintain the Flight Software testbeds (HILs or HWILs) which provide complete hardware integration testing with feedback and flight simulation, and the Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Software which enables system verification and production system checkout and flight test support.
We are looking for a creative, self-motivated, software architect who is familiar with embedded software systems and has a passion for pushing the bounds of what current and future technology can accomplish. This role will be part of the Future Missions group within the NGC-SW IPT and is supported by a strong team of technical experts and responsive leaders. This role will be focused on shaping the vision for future development based on our customer’s advanced mission needs. It will require an understanding of our current solution and a willingness to work closely with our customers and mission partners to plan out how we can evolve our design to meet their needs while staying within their financial and schedule guardrails. In addition you will work closely with the Product Managers to lay out high-level roadmaps that allow the team to implement the vision in line with key program milestones. The ideal candidate should have a strong systems engineering and architecture background as well as a deep understanding of embedded software design. In this role, you will:
Partner with the Thread Leads, Systems Engineers, and Architects to understand our customer’s evolving mission and needs
Help shape system-level solutions, including use cases, conops, architectures, and requirements
Own and evolve the Flight Software architecture to enable the system-level solutions
Work with the Thread Leads to translate the architecture into a top-level design roadmaps that meet program milestones
Clearly articulate the future architecture to customers, senior leadership, national partners, and stakeholders
Ensure clear and sufficient integration between the mission needs, software architecture, and requirements
Guide the development and integration of the Flight Software system models SysML/UML models
Investigate alternative approaches and perform trades to provide the greatest value to our customers
Build strong, transparent partnerships with customer counterparts, industry partners, and government labs for software development
Serve as an enthusiastic champion of what the future can be, connecting our teams to the exciting vision of what this system can be!
Basic Qualifications:
-Experience with realtime, embedded software development such as missiles, spacecraft, aircraft, robotics, or automotive
-Experience across the software development life cycle from solution/requirements definition to integration and test
-Experience leading and/or developing plans and schedules for software projects
-Ability to obtain a DoD Top-Secret Clearance
Desired Skills:
-Experience developing with C/C++ or similar on embedded, realtime systems
-Experience with Green Hills INTEGRITY, Wind River VxWorks, or equivalent embedded RTOS
-Familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering and modeling languages (SysML, UML)
-Ability to empathize with the challenges other dev teams are facing while upholding our commitment to software quality and mission success
-Familiar with software architecture, development, and qualification for safety critical and/or cyber-hardened systems
-Experience integrating, testing, and qualifying embedded software for safety-critical applications
-Demonstrated experience integrating and testing software with hardware
-Leadership experience within larger (20-40 engineers) software development efforts
-Experience working with Army and Navy customers
-Experience leading and planning within an agile development environment
-Active DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9×80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in Colorado or Washington is $123,500 – $236,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
