The Role: Product Owner, Upstream Energy, S&P Global Commodity Insights
The Location: The ideal candidate will be based in Houston, Texas and report into the office on a hybrid work schedule.

The Team: As Product Owner, you will be part of the Product Management team within S&P Global Commodity Insights serving the Upstream oil and gas business. The team is responsible for collecting, refining, and disseminating well, production and injection data for the oil and gas industry, as well as supporting energy transition efforts such a mining mineral from produced water to support the manufacturing of lithium batteries, geothermal and carbon sequestration. A current product under development is Water & Injection Management which focuses on the largest waste stream in the manufacture of hydrocarbons, produced water. This product provides critical information to assist operators in understanding if their CO2 injection regime is effective and monitoring to ensure compliance with state regulatory requirements set in place to mitigate seismic activity. Finally, as Product Owner you will work to ensure the team’s success in delivery, primarily by helping to identify and especially remove impediments impacting the team’s ability to deliver. You will support multiple cross-functional product teams (squads) and serves as the Scrum Master for each of those product teams.

Responsibilities:
- Write user stories ADOPs for new products and projects
- Initiate, maintain and communicate all aspects relating product creation to Serena
- Work with the development team to answer questions and serve as the product owner for agile processes
- Gather detailed requirements for new products
- Suggest enhancements and new processes
- Coordinate with other Energy product teams and S&P BLs to exploit synergies and opportunities to share technologies and/or integration of products
- Interacts with members of the commercial, product development, operations, sales and customer care organizations, and may work directly with internal and external clients to support requests, gather information and resolve any issues that may arise
- Constantly looking to identify impediments early, actively working to resolve those impediments, and escalates when needed
- Management and tracking of cross team/squad dependencies
- Management and tracking of all high-integrity commitments
- Provides proactive visibility and effectively communicates delivery targets, commitments and progress
- Works to minimize meetings and ceremonies, but when they are needed, they are well-run and efficient
- Encourages a culture of team-driven decision making and commitment. Encourages team trust and facilitates team building events
- Where appropriate, coaches the teams to improve collaboration and outcomes (coaching is the primary responsibility of teams’ managers)
What We’re Looking For:
- A Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 or more years of experience as a product owner in an agile development environment
- Experience with SQL, Serena, and Azure Dev Ops
- Experience in upstream oil and gas with a deep understanding of the E&P lifecycle preferred, but not required
- A self-starter with excellent communication skills and an aptitude for presenting thoughts and ideas to all levels of internal stakeholders
- Excellent time management, analytical and problem-solving skills required
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $59,800 to $118,900. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
