Overview:
Bring your passion and experience to HGA (a national interdisciplinary, award-winning design firm) with a full-time opportunity in Los Angeles or San Diego office for an energetic, driven and creative Senior Interior Designer with a variety of market sector experience from workplace to higher education, arts and culture projects. In this position, you would collaborate with and be an integral part of the design project team, supporting both development of interior design efforts and implementation of that vision.
In this role you will:
1. lead the interior design scope projects including hospitals, clinics and medical office buildings;
2. work with design teams to develop leading edge, innovative interior design solutions while collaborating and communicating effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary team members;
3. enthusiastically work with clients and design team to interpret and evaluate client requirements for successful project design;
4. exhibit a passion for design and innovation and thought leadership;
5. work within project schedules to prioritize tasks and coordinate the completion of documentation required from initial design phase through final project completion;
6. mentor an interior design team and design coordinators and provide design direction through all project phases;
7. possess general project management skills including but not limited to: development and tracking of budgets, schedules and staffing. Ability to track and understand individual as well as supporting ID team members time spent to ensure the financial success of the project;
8. possess general knowledge of contractual agreements with the ability to accurately estimate time required per phase of project through fee proposal / preparation;
9. have the ability to participate and contribute to interview preparation, marketing efforts and general events that help grow / positively position the business;
10. possess excellent problem-solving abilities – creative approach to solutions that greatly improves or negates undesirable circumstances;
11. effectively yet creatively sell design concepts, creating confidence in clients that resonates through the duration of the project, informing efficient decision making that delivers on time, on budget;
12. be able to lead and advise on programming efforts, amending targeted questions, surveys and drafting conclusive results as appropriate;
13. research concepts and materials to advise and support design team on technical issues influencing interior design concept development;
14. be able to to advise intelligently on the implementation of design concepts and application of materials regarding aesthetics, maintenance, lifecycle, and costs;
15. develop design into constructable solutions through sketches, construction drawing sets, and detailing;
16. exhibit an understanding and ability to review shop drawing submittals related to the interior and advises as appropriate;
17. review material submittals and conducts on-site observations; and
18. collaborate, advise and direct consultants appropriately to ensure success of the project from a design perspective as well as budget and schedule.
You will need to have:
• 7-10 years of interior design experience
• Degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited program
• NCIDQ certification or Licensed Architect
• Experience and interest in working on variety of project types including workplace, arts and culture, and higher education
• Fluent knowledge of Revit, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and/or other related graphic software programs is expected. Rhino is an asset
• Excellent design skills and possesses attention to detail and appreciation for creative and thoughtful design
• Experience in all project phases from visioning, programming, developing conceptual and schematic designs, design development and construction documentation for commercial
• Demonstrates a passion for integrating sustainability goals into your projects. Experience in integrated project delivery methods, sustainable design and certifications methods
• Furniture selection, budgeting, specification and bidding experience
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent communication and follow through skills
• Ability to multi-task, managing multiple projects at the same time
Salary Information:
The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $99,500 – $144,400.
