The Role
As a Principal Software Test Engineer, you will be responsible for growing the integration test environment, strategy, and implementation for the Ampere firmware team. This role is part of the Ampere Software DevOps organization with a focus on growing Ampere’s robust silicon and firmware test infrastructure.
What you’ll do:
- Own and manage Ampere’s Software Release Package (SRP) automated test strategy and process.
- Own and drive bare-metal integration test strategy for Ampere’s trunk-based development model.
- Develop and update Python orchestration tooling for bare-metal system management.
- Expand, improve, and own the test definitions for automated integration testing across Ampere’s firmware roadmap.
- Collaborate across the software organization on test planning and rollout strategies.
- Orchestrate root cause analysis using modern data analytics and automation techniques with Python and Google BigQuery.
- Architect, design, and build additional infrastructure to address Ampere’s growing software testing needs.
- Expand Ampere’s core automation toolkit, used across all of Ampere’s DevOps infrastructure.
What you’ll bring:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience building and leading a test and validation function.
- Strong passion for leading the development on a next generation test and validation infrastructure.
- Robust understanding of Git for source code management.
- Robust understanding of industry standard requirements management and testing strategies.
- Robust understanding of CI pipeline and automation concepts (such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent)
- Robust understanding of test development best practices.
- Experience with programming in Python and Bash. Experience with IPMI, Redfish, and BMC is a bonus.
- Experience in data analytics using Python & BigQuery or equivalent.
- Knowledge of core firmware concepts is a plus.
Education & Experience:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field with 8+ years of experience or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field with 6+ years of experience.

Benefits & Pay
Ampere offers a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, bonus, stock, and comprehensive benefits. The full base pay range for this role is between $129,000 and $215,000, except in the San Francisco Bay Area where the range is between $143,000 and $238,000. We also offer an annual bonus program tied to internal company goals and annual meritocratic stock awards that enable our employees to participate in the success of the company.
