Floor Director

Overview

As a Floor Director, you will be responsible for executing a wide range of studio production tasks that include the operation of studio cameras for live news production, preparing video segments for newscasts as assigned by the News Producer, directing on-air talent and guests, and relaying information from director to on-air talent. This role will ensure that studio equipment and lighting is functioning properly prior to all newscasts resulting in high quality broadcasts that meet specifications set forth by the management.

The pay range listed for this position represents the low and high end of the base compensation range. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and equity awards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all floor studio cameras during live newscasts.
  • Prepare/edit video segments for newscasts.
  • Maintain studio cleanliness and troubleshoot studio equipment.
  • Prepare studio guests with mics and instructions prior to air.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, insurance and have access to reliable transportation.
  • 1+ years in a technical support or customer service role.

Other Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Floor Director for news department preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to run live studio camera during newscasts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot studio equipment and lighting.
  • Serve as camera operator for COTV events as needed.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced and high stress situations.
  • Ability to complete work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to a swing shift and being available for on-call in order to capture live events as needed for programming.
  • Familiarity with broadcast equipment/software: Various broadcast studio cameras, Adobe Premier, Ross Inception or iNews.
