Job Summary
The position leads all supplier diversity efforts for PSEG Long Island including those regarding minority and women owned business enterprises (MWBEs), service disabled veteran owned businesses (SDVOBs), and any other business types deemed disadvantaged by New York State. Responsible for the overall strategy development, implementation and management of the PSEG Long Island Supplier Diversity program. This role will be responsible for identifying qualified Diverse Suppliers, creating and implementing Diverse Supplier development strategies, establishing processes around sourcing and contracting with diverse suppliers, training procurement personnel to execute those processes, monitoring and reporting program utilization metrics, assuring compliance with all applicable NY supplier diversity regulations, reporting requirements & objectives, participating in community facing outreach, and lead interface with government agencies and departments relating to program inquiries and reporting. The Supplier Diversity Manager manages a team of three Process Analysts to build and execute PSEG Long Island’s supplier diversity program.
Job Responsibilities
• Corporate sponsorship and leadership in initiating, directing and marketing a Supplier Diversity process which develops minority, veteran and women owned businesses with additional focus on the NY based supplier community in support of strategic efforts
• Represent and promote the company in the business and diversity communities on all matters relating to supplier diversity
• Develop strategy to increase compliance, participation and spend in Diversity 2nd Tier program with an emphasis on direct spend.
• Development and sponsorship of the corporate diversity supplier certification, performance evaluation, and recognition process
• Participate in diversity councils and support/coordinate supplier diversity outreach events
Job Specific Qualifications
Required Education, Skills & Competencies
• Bachelor’s degree or, or lieu of a degree, 15 years of related business experience
• Minimum of five years of relevant work experience, e.g., supplier diversity, EEO, business leadership, analytics, Diversity & Inclusion, Procurement,
• 5+ years of supervisory / management experience
• Knowledge of NY State Supplier Diversity process, procedures and laws
Experience in developing annual supplier diversity plans
• Excellent communications, influencing and presentation skills. Position will require presentations to upper management
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple activities / events and prioritize work
• Candidate must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity.
• Successful candidate must demonstrate and value differences in others’ strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices.
• Able to travel at least 10-20%. This job requires travel for business-related purposes mainly in the tri-state area. Travel is mostly related to supplier site visits, attendance of various supplier diversity organization meetings/events.
Desired Education, Skills & Competencies
• Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD) or Certified Diversity Professional (CDP)
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
• Supply Chain experience
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc) and standard analytical tools (Excel, Access)
• Current or past experience in serving in leadership positions for Supplier Diversity organizations (e.g. NMSDC, WBENC, NaVOBA)
• Graduate degree (e.g., JD, MS, PhD)
