This role has been designated as Hybrid work schedule and will be based out of our St. Paul, MN location. Flexible work-from-home options are available.
As the Digital Solutions Chief Product Owner, you are responsible for the connection of business strategy to development of digitally enabled products and services that will result in rapid, profitable growth for Trane. This role leads a team of product owners and is responsible for the prioritization of initiatives and investments across the Digital business. This role will collaborate across different parts of the business to connect business needs with product owners to execute agile development practices including strategy alignment, product increment planning, roadmap development, progress visibility to stakeholders, connecting to development teams to deliver business goals and prioritizing feedback from user support to improve offerings.
What you will do:
- Growth of Digital Solutions – Collaborate across the Trane Commercial business to: prioritize and align multiple business strategies, facilitate requirement creation to alignment and prioritize development backlog, and support team on delivery of committed features.
- Coaching and Mentoring – leading a Product Owner team, driving action and accountability, establishing metrics for success, promoting employee engagement, growth and safety.
- Customer focus – Connecting with our customer’s needs, vertical markets and our business to help guide our strategy for investments and offering feature alignment between teams.
- Processes – Implement and improve standard work around business case development, road mapping, and prioritization to give visibility to alignment and delivery to business goals.
- Data Driven – Increase the use of data and analytics from different data sources, specifically user usage data provided by Amplitude to drive business case creation and validation.
- Productivity – development and reuse of platform, development/deployment processes, process automation, and standard work.
- Team Management – Provide Product Owner capabilities to the organization with the right level of staffing, goal deployment, performance reviews, funding requests and other organizational objectives
What we expect of you:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or similar field
- 8-10 years of business experience
- 5+ years of agile software development experience
- Able to quickly adapt to change and navigate ambiguous problem spaces
- Self-starter and ability to work with little instructions and collaborate with diverse teams
- Experience collaborating with remote teams (including international)
- Leadership & Accountability: Possesses the mind-set of a business leader, with a focus on delivering measurable business and customer value and optimizing ROI
- Decisive: Makes decisions and prioritizes effectively using data and facts
- Communication: Strong communicator of business and technical information at all levels of the organization both written and verbally
- Process knowledge: Strong familiarity with software development processes, software development roles and tools
- Customer bias: Passion for understanding our customer and how our domain can positively impact their business results
Ideally, you would also be familiar with one or more of the following
- Demonstrated success working with engineering teams to plan, develop, refine, and launch successful products Experience with B2B and service models & expectations
- Ability to research and explore product and feature opportunities
- Ability to quickly connect HVAC customer needs & experiences to tangible requirements and business drivers
- Knowledge of/experience in HVAC system domain or IoT
- Experience working within an entrepreneurial environment; potentially with a startup or consultancy agency with agile practice
- Experience working within a greenfield software development environment
Base Compensation Range is $140,000 to $180,000
