Enrollment Management Central Office ( EMCO )

We are a supportive group of professionals who like to have fun while also providing superior customer service. Enrollment Management employs over 200 FTE’s and RGP’s, around 250 student workers per semester, and 50 temporary faculty and staff.
The Enrollment Management Central Office is a relatively new shared services model business office that serves the needs of the seven offices within Enrollment Management. EMCO’s primary focus is serving the needs of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Visitors Center, Enrollment Data Analytics, Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, and the Office of New Student Orientation. But we serve as a support resource (Division contact) for two additional offices (Registrar’s Office and TRIO Programs).
We are looking for an experienced human resources professional who is creative, dynamic, resourceful, and diligent to lead the HR unit of Enrollment Management. The Director of Human Resources fills a vital division-wide role for Enrollment Management. The Director serves as the unit’s subject matter expert on human resources related activities and serves as a resource to employees as needed. They direct and lead two Assistant Directors, and manage strategy, policy, training, and professional development for all personnel-related operations for all seven Enrollment Management offices.
The Director is responsible for improving the productivity of the organization’s employees. They will assess needs to drive training initiatives and identify and arrange suitable training solutions for employees. They will also creatively design and implement effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance. Experience developing and leading training sessions for staff in person, in groups, one-on-one, and in webinar format is essential. Familiarity with MS Teams, Adobe, PeopleAdmin, PeopleSoft HCM preferred.
The Director serves as the primary liaison between the Division of Enrollment Management and Central HR for issues related to employee relations (grievances, performance and other workplace issues), payroll, and benefits and will work closely with Leadership in Enrollment Management to confidentially and discreetly oversee, troubleshoot, and resolve complex HR issues as they arise. They direct and manage any other highly confidential or high-visibility HR activities within EM departments.
This position manages and participates in high-level strategic planning and implementation of EMCO programs and activities, technology, and office goals. The Director also seeks out and applies new knowledge in the Human Resources field by participating in regional or national associations for the profession.
This position may require occasional evening and/or weekend work and has the potential for hybrid work.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3-5 years of experience managing, leading, or overseeing a fast-paced work environment, preferably within an administrative/business office setting.
- Experience in Enrollment Management.
- Increasing levels of responsibility within administrative and/or higher ed career path/industry.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of University of South Carolina policies, procedures, and payroll/absence management and HR systems.

- Keen attention to detail.
- Considerable computer mastery with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
