As a Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will lead, mentor, coach, and grow a team of diverse, talented engineers who are versed in delivering world-class services in high pressure situations. Strong collaboration skills will be required to work closely with other engineering and research teams to ensure services & systems are highly stable and performant and meet the expectations of internal and external customers.
This role requires a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast paced, highly technical, constantly evolving environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer focus with a deep understanding of the importance of Live Site support. Due to the increasing prevalence of cyber-threats & attacks, you will be required to provide technical leadership and nurture a learn-it-all, curious, data-driven culture in a fast-paced high-pressure environment. Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
- Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Kubernetes, and the Kubernetes satellite technologies
- Mastery of CI/CD concepts with implementation experience
- Experience with live site support and on-call models and participate in a 24×7 live site support model as Incident Manager
- Demonstrated experience of defining mission, vision, strategy, and creating a roadmap for the team to deliver.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Software Engineers, Program Managers, Security Researchers, and Data Scientists
- Proven experience with building large scale services/Infrastructures, supportability, and observability
Software Engineering M5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.
