Job Description

Dakota County Technical College seeks an Unlimited Full-Time instructor to teach in the Information Systems Technology program that is dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. Duties Include:

  • Teach several Software Development and fundamentals courses within the ISTC department.
  • Instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to, instructional planning, curriculum development, student evaluation and records, student recruitment and retention, student advising and placement, classroom/climate preparation and management, interpersonal relations, promote safety in all aspects of program activities, purchase supplies and equipment, participate in professional development experiences, work as an effective team member of the department, maintenance of professional skills and credentials, and participate on college committees
  • Other: provide instruction as needed to students who are pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate in Information Systems Technology Careers. Courses to include Network Systems, Operating Systems, and Network Security.

Required Qualifications

Education Requirement:

  • Associate degree in a computer or information technology field

Occupational Experience Requirement:

  • Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in computer programming.

Recency Requirement

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of C#, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL programming languages
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle including analysis and design.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • Teaching/training experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Must have the ability to work with diverse populations.

Founded in 1970 Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) is a public, two-year technical college in Rosemount, Minnesota. DCTC offers about 150 programs that range from an AA, to a degree in pluming. DCTC will allows students the possibility to go right into work force after graduation. Students who graduate from DCTC gave a 90% chance of getting a job after graduation.

Benefits Info

Salary: Full time faculty salaries currently range from $40,912 – $85,892 annually. Salary is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2021-2023 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
