The Immigration Specialist supports the immigration function within the Human Resources department. The Immigration Specialist is responsible for advising employees, processing applications and paperwork, and maintaining regulatory compliance. This position reports to the Immigration Program Manager. This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

- Determine appropriate non-immigrant visa types for all foreign nationals appointed/hired by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch) and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA).
- Manage pre-offer immigration assessments, case initiations, escalations, USCIS site visits, Public Access Files.
- Prepare and act as authorized signatory for all in-house visa petitions for new hires, transfers, extensions, and change of status applications for H-1B, J-1, TN, and E-3 visa holders employed with Fred Hutch and SCCA ensuring the legal status of all visa holders
- J-1 visa program responsibilities including Form DS-2019 administration, annual reporting, cultural exchange events, preparing DOS Advisory Opinion Letters and program re-designation
- Prepare and advise employees for consular visits and visa stamp processing
- Build effective relationships and collaboration with Talent Acquisition & HR Business Partner teams.
- Work directly with employees to analyze complex immigration matters, advise on potential risks and challenges, and resolve issues by facilitating stakeholder discussions that balance business and employee needs.
- Maintain regulatory compliance with all immigration government agencies including US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of State (J-1 Program and US Consulates), Department of Homeland Security and Department of Labor.
- Liaise with outside counsel to interpret and apply immigration policies and procedures in a timely manner when appropriate.
- Manage in-house postings for PERM recruitment.
- Advise on regulatory changes that may impact the program and/or employees. Assist in executing change and communication plans.E-verify, I-9 for FNs, archiving files, monthly reporting, check requests
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Comprehensive knowledge of US immigration, with minimum 2+ years’ experience.
- Excellent communication, customer service and problem solving skills.
- Possess high ethical standards.
- Experience working with E-Verify, SEVIS, DOL iCERT, OFLC Online Data Wage, US DHS I-94 Admission Records.
- Advanced skills in MS suite, including Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint. Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) preferred.
- Ability to plan, problem solve, execute, and multi-task with flexibility.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong multi-tasking skills while continuing to provide a high level of customer service.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $67,445 to $101,167 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
