Schedule: July 3- July 27, 2023 – 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Rate of Pay: $45/hr or Per Diem, whichever is greater

The Tumwater School District will be conducting a high school summer school program. Classes will be conducted in two-hour blocks with students having the opportunity to enroll in up to two classes (.5 credits for each high school course). Course offerings include courses for credit retrieval.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Valid teaching certificate, State of Washington, with proper endorsement(s) in assigned area(s).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate classroom instruction and activity programs in grades 9 – 12 consistent with building and district curriculum
- Utilize Washington State Learning Standards in developing curriculum
- Prescribe learning and training programs for individual pupils based on student aptitude, interest, and achievement levels
- Provide for individual needs of assigned students
- Support struggling learners and provide differentiation opportunities for credit retrieval
- Cooperate with summer school administrator and staff in implementation of comprehensive instructional programs
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as an instructional team member
- Develop instructional goals and objectives to meet teaching assignment
- Participate in building and district in-service education/training programs
- Attend building/district meetings and conferences as required
- Other duties as assigned
DESIRED BACKGROUND/SKILLS:
- Strong skills and background in instructional methods, computer skills, and strategies. Knowledge of current course work and ability to teach course work at all levels
- Ability to prescribe appropriate instruction, use a variety of teaching materials and strategies, plan and carry out instructions to meet varied needs of students
- Knowledge of and/or experience related to state testing/assessments
- Manage behavior of students to maximize learning
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to participate successfully in team planning, programming, and instructional activities
- Ability to develop, modify, and adjust curriculum to meet the individual needs of students at multiple grade levels
- Ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues, and administrators
- Willingness to benefit from the building supervision and evaluation programs
- Desire to become a part of the faculty
