Director of Operations – Energy Storage

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Director of Operations for Energy Storage will lead this business line within the organization. They will bring the aptitude, leadership, direction, and oversight to grow and develop this business line to be a leader in the market. They will have responsibilities that include business development, engineering, and operations. They will own the P&L for the business line and ensure the business produces a safe and quality outcome. They will build an operational team around them and work with shared services to support their business needs and goals. They will be responsible for the business developing their construction methods, planning, budgeting, contract negotiations, managing vendors and change management. This individual must demonstrate the capability of building relationships and serving customers through excellent collaboration and communication.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety: The Director will demonstrate, establish, and execute a culture of safety within the business and projects. They will demonstrate will pursue business goals without sacrificing the health and welfare of our people. They will encourage positive behaviors on each project and work with HSE to solve challenges that may occur.

  • On time Execution: The Director will establish our project management program to ensure our schedules are used as a tool to proactively manage the on-time execution of the projects.
  • Operational Excellence: The Director will execute their business strategy in a consistent, predictable, and reliable manner. They will strive for Operational excellence that creates a simple, effective, and valuable outcome. They will establish a program that will produce lower operational risk, lower operating costs, and increased revenues relative to our competitors, thus creating bottom line results for the organization, customers and shareholders. The Director will lead in a manner that promotes continuous improvement, lean thinking, Six Sigma and learning from our lessons; thus, incorporating all that back into the system and customer service program.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: The Director will establish and lead our project management program to produce a fiscal outcome for the company. This will be accomplished by employing the companies fundamental budgeting, planning, monitoring, and forecasting processes that ensure a complete understanding the financial performance and status of each project. Our project management program will also establish a positive cash position and collecting our receivables on time.
  • Talent Development: The Director will intentionally lead and develop others to lead the development of our greatest asset: our people. They will ensure this development through a regular and consistent coaching and feedback system that will provide regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years of Construction experience and a proven construction background.
  • 5+ years of construction project experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (equivalent is 8 years of construction experience) in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management or related field from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated experience in Construction Management and leadership of people.
  • Strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Must have a valid current driver license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Must have a valid current passport for travel (including air travel) outside the U.S.
  • Extensive travel required.
