This recruitment is open to the public and is being held to establish an eligible list to fill current/future Store Clerk vacancies within the Social Services Agency. This recruitment may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.
SALARY INFORMATION
In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive a salary range increase on the following date:
Effective June 28, 2024 – 4.25% increase
Effective June 27, 2025 – 4.00% increase
Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate’s qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

THE OPPORTUNITY
This position is with the Children and Family Services (CFS) Operations & Support Services. This position is responsible for ordering office supplies, forms, paper, toner, personal protective equipment , ergonomic recommended items, and other special-order items. In addition, this position is also responsible for resetting the voicemails, addressing fax and copier issues, loaning out County vehicles to social workers, providing service to all off-site CFS buildings, and overseeing the client property room at the Annex Warehouse. This position will also track work assignments and staffing requests that arrive in the CFS Facility Support inbox, move boxes, deliver materials to CFS buildings, and provide support for safety drills and emergency issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Some experience which demonstrates the application of the knowledge and abilities listed below:
General Knowledge of
- The receiving, storing and issuing of a variety of supplies and materials
- Storekeeping office services procedures such as filing, maintaining records or invoices of items received and issued and perpetual inventory
Ability to
- Maintain accurate storekeeping records, files, indexes and inventories
- Maintain and organize efficient storage layout of a storeroom
- Follow established office services procedures and learn the specific operations of the department and County supply system
- Perform simple arithmetic computations, add, subtract, multiply and divide several units of measure
- Safely lift and move heavy objects
- Communicate clearly in English with staff and vendors to order supplies and resolve discrepancies

License/Certification
Possession of a valid California Driver License, Class C or higher by date of appointment.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will be required to undergo and successfully clear a background clearance check prior to the start of their employment. All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Areas considered in the background check include conviction history, employment history, professional references and education verification (i.e. degree, license, or official transcripts) if applicable. Foreign degrees require an evaluation of U.S. equivalency by an agency that is a member of the National Association of Credential Services (N.A.C.E.S.) – In addition, a Child Abuse Central Index (CACI) background clearance check may be required. CACI is a repository of child abuse investigation reports managed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) that contains information related to substantiated cases of physical abuse, sexual abuse, mental/emotional abuse, and/or severe neglect of a child.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS:Human Resource Services (HRS) screens all applications to identify the qualified candidates for the position based on the skills required to meet the needs of the County. After the initial screening, the qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the competition.
Online Assessment (Weighted 100%)Applicants whose experience and education appear to best meet the needs of the department will be invited to participate in an online multiple choice examination. Only the applicants who receive the highest score on the assessment will be referred to the eligible list.
Based on the Department’s needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedure.
Eligible List: Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
