Responsibilities
This position supervises the on-site Financial Counselors with in Hospital Admissions in Rochester, MN.
The on-site Financial Counseling team is responsible for providing comprehensive financial counseling and assistance to hospital patients. Activities include gathering and updating registration and insurance information, assistance with billing and insurance questions, prior authorization or managed care, financial assistance, external funding, payment collection and posting, and assistance with medicaid applications. This is not a remote or teleworking position and requires candidates to be located in the Rochester, MN area or be willing and able to relocate to the Rochester, MN area. Supervises and directs professional and support staff for the Revenue Cycle ensuring effective use of employees, equipment & materials within budget & quality standards. Responsible for full spectrum of human resources and operational functions and workflows, including but not limited to performance management, attendance management, training, and quality. Identifies trends, performs tactical planning and carries out strategic plans. Ensures staff has the resources to carry out their responsibilities. Optimizes staff productivity and service; resolves work place problems of team and processes; develops policies, procedures and guidelines. Possesses the technical knowledge of the function being supervised. Implements retention and recruitment planning initiatives. Participates in the overall management of Revenue Cycle teams through involvement in Enterprise-wide projects, work groups, task forces, councils, and committees. Serves as liaison between area of responsibility and other constituents inside and outside of Mayo. Acts as the subject matter expert for assigned areas of supervision, members of the management team, and different sections within the Revenue Cycle and multiple areas outside of the Revenue Cycle. Maintains expert knowledge of workflows within the scope of responsibility and optimizes the use of available technology. May require occasional travel.
Qualifications
High School diploma and 5 years of relevant management experience. Relevant experience demonstrated in managing staff performance and productivity, managing staff schedules and attendance, trending problems with solutions, and effective quality management.
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of relevant financial experience. Relevant experience demonstrated with metrics towards financial productivity, can perform tactical procedures towards identifying areas of opportunity and bring forward solutions towards improvements.
OR
Master’s degree required.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience in Healthcare or Revenue Cycle is preferred
Possesses PC skills, both keyboarding and applications. Knowledge of and experience with Finance systems and applications preferred.
