We are currently looking for a dedicated, conscientious Ophthalmic Scribe to join and advance within our growing practice! Experience is preferred but we will train the right candidate! Medical Assistants are welcomed to apply.
Summary: Appropriately document physician examination, physician/patient discussions, physician’s impression and plan, e-prescribe medications and complete templates as required for same day or future patient care within Nextgen EMR.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Gather all information from the examination including all tests that are ordered by the doctor and appropriately document in Nextgen EMR.
- Record physician/patient discussion in EMR.
- Complete templates as required for same day or future patient care
- Knowledgeable in anatomy of the eye and ocular pathology.
- Knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories.
- Assists physician in exam.
- Triages emergency cases appropriately into physicians schedule, facilitates patient flow.
- Utilizes as appropriate, infection control techniques and universal precautions.
- Contributes to quality of care and operational efficiencies.
- Maintains confidentiality and professional demeanor at all times.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position requiring 40 hours per week. Position is in a medical office and shifts are scheduled around the needs of the practice, position regularly requires long and evening shifts, Saturday shifts are required on a rotating basis.
Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; minimum two years experience as an ophthalmic assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
