Construction Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in New York City. The Construction Estimator will play a crucial role in our pre-construction process, providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of construction methods and materials, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review bid documents, specs, and drawings to identify project requirements and risks.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiating competitive prices and terms.
  • Analyze historical data, market trends, and local factors for precise pricing.
  • Assist in developing project budgets and cost control strategies.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams to explain estimates and address concerns.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and maintain quality standards through value engineering.
  • Provide project support by tracking costs and changes for managers and superintendents.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes impacting estimating practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of solid Construction Estimator experience in the New York City construction market.
  • Deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and local building codes/regulations.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and meet project deadlines.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator, Associate Constructor) a plus.

Additional Information / Salary / Benefits:

  • $130,000 – $195,000 per year (depending on your level of experience)
