Job Description
The Project Manager provides the planning, coordination, and direction for project management activities to ensure they meet owner needs, specifications, cost, and schedule, from initial project identification through construction closeout. May supervise office/field administrative staff, project/field engineers, assistant project/construction managers, and other assigned staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
As a Project/Construction Manager and on behalf of a client, the candidate will manage and administer all aspects of a successful water and wastewater project, which may include:
- Assisting in the constructability review of water and/or wastewater project plans and specifications including evaluation and detailed design of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump plants, water reuse systems, distribution systems, conveyance, storage, and pipeline projects.
- In accordance with owner’s established guidelines, developing project’s processes, specific procedures and required documentation necessary for the project’s success.
- Providing professional services as client representative in roles of project and construction management to ensure that projects are constructed on schedule, on budget and in accordance with project contract documents.
- Duties shall include, but not limited to coordinating and administering compliance, and processing requests for information, submittals, invoices, billing, grant requirements, change orders, schedules, estimates and work plans through project completion and commissioning.
- Coordinating and ensuring proper and timely communication between all stakeholders.
- Ensuring the project team adheres to all safety regulations.
- Developing long term relationships with clients through professional representation.
- Assisting in marketing business opportunities with clients through awareness, needs assessment and in the preparation of RFP/RFQ responses.
- Participating in local professional organizations.
- Successfully interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, inspectors, public officials, and the general public.
- Mentoring
- Presentations to municipal boards and city councils
- Work with local and state regulatory agencies for project permitting, funding, etc.
- Substantial presence on project sites.
- Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is required (Extensive relevant project management experience in place of education may be considered)
- Candidates must have at least 7 years of progressive project and construction management experience and/or expertise in one or more of the following: Water and Wastewater conveyance systems, Water and Wastewater treatment systems, Reclaimed/Recycled water transmission, distribution and storage, Water storage facilities, Pump stations, Groundwater Management Programs.
- Strong communication, technical writing and time-management skills are required.
- Thorough understanding of contracts, documents, drawings, and specifications and applied experience in the areas of project accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction in professional settings.
- Proficient and experience in various project delivery methods.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project control related systems such as Prolog and Primavera.
- Project, construction management and inspection experience
- Relevant contractor experience
- Professional Engineer (or successful completion of Engineer-in-Training examination) preferred
- CMAA, Project Management, DBIA, LEED, Envision or other relevant credentials preferred
- Local experience within California preferred
Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $100,000-$145,000.
