What you will do!

In the Veterinary Technician role, you have the responsibility of monitoring animal health on a regular basis. You will handle and restrain various animal species while providing a high level of care. You will be tasked with identifying and communicating any animal health issues to veterinarians and respond to emergencies. You will also be required to administer clinical treatments, including various methods such as topical, PO, IM, SQ, and IV. Additionally, you will perform routine treatments related to animal health and welfare, including operating anesthesia equipment. You may also need to perform health rounds and treatments on weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.

As the Veterinary Technician, you will assist with collecting and submitting diagnostic samples, as well as conducting general facility operations such as recording supply inventory and animal census. Other duties include assisting with contract research studies, data collection, dose administration, surgical procedures, and sample collection. Additionally, you may be required to train and mentor other staff, as well as develop and maintain SOPs. Maintaining AAALAC accreditation standards is essential in your job. This will involve performing routine IACUC post-approval monitoring to ensure all procedures are conducted in accordance with ethical standards.

Who are we looking for?

A candidate that possesses an associate’s/bachelor’s degree, a certification as a veterinary technician, and or equivalent experience required; At least 2 years of experience in lab animal care and proficiency with a variety of technical skills (dosing, sample collection, necropsy, etc.) with Animal Biosafety Levels 1 and 2 experience required. LAT certification is preferred.

The pay range for this position is $29-34 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
