Sr. Mgr, Ops Program Mngmt, Kuiper Operations Program Management

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Sr Manager, OPM is a highly visible role that will work with Sr leaders in Kuiper to create systems, processes, mechanisms, and metrics that enable Kuiper Operations teams success.

Key job responsibilities

As Senior Manager, Operations Program Management, you and your team will:

  • Own the satellite production roadmap that delivers the end-to-end solutions necessary to source, build, test and launch satellites at high rates.
  • You will provide strategic management for large, complex and time critical programs.
  • You will establish the linkage between production roadmap and annual goals & objectives, creating tools and mechanisms to measure, monitor and optimize these projects.
  • You will be expected to represent the overall production roadmap in assessing technical trades related to innovation, speed, manufacturing, cost, stability and trust.
  • You will understand dependencies between roadmap projects, synchronize milestones, identify constraints and dive deep where necessary to unblock and deliver the roadmap.
  • You will create new tools and business processes that simplify, standardize and enable operational excellence across the entire production value stream.

A day in the life

To deliver these complex solutions, you will partner with peers across all Kuiper teams, including hardware, software, supply chain, manufacturing, launch, facilities, finance, compliance, and HR.

This role includes direct responsibility for program management of system level development, integration, and test. This is a highly technical role requiring experience with integrated hardware and software development as well as some appreciation for complex applications.

This role will be highly collaborative, requiring partnerships with cross-functional leaders to drive positive results.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan that defines how teams will deliver on forward looking production plans.
  • Partner with business teams on scalable standardized approaches to meet their demand and enable growth.
  • Develop and manage the program level Production Ramp schedule (including Production, Supply Chain, PPF, Launch, Finance and Back Office Functions) to act as a single source for project timeline tracking and synchronization.
  • Build and lead a high performing team of Technical Program Leaders and Analysts
  • Drive the creation, documentation, and adoption of scalable, standardized, and highly visible processes across all supply chain, manufacturing and launch functions.
  • Drive executive communication cadence and deliver artifacts that provide insight into the activities, accomplishments, challenges and risks of operations.
  • Establish and own reporting mechanisms, business strategy documents, operating rhythms
  • Define, measure, analyze, improve, and control KPI’s across all aspects of the operation.
  • Drive year over year optimization opportunities in all areas of operations, including manufacturing and sourcing.
  • Provide feedback/escalate systemic concerns to tech teams regarding approaches that are cost-inefficient or detrimental to scaling.
  • Create new tools and business processes that simplify, standardize and enable operational excellence across the entire production value stream.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (Operations, Supply Chain management, Procurement, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Data Analytics or related fields)
  • 7+ years’ experience leading operations, supply chain and/or logistics teams
  • 5+ years of program management, business analytics experience
  • 5+ years of experience in managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously and presenting to and influencing senior executives
  • 4+ years of experience in developing functional requirements and SOW to create new tools or to improve processes
  • 5+ years of people management experience running teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience managing teams with large operations, technical and cross team scope.
  • The candidate will have a proven track record in driving top and bottom-line performance across a large-scale operation.
  • Proven track record of hiring and developing the best talent, and leading strong performing teams.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence top leadership as this role requires influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience in product, program, and/or project management in leading cross-functional teams to continuously improve the business and define what is next
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma concepts and applications a plus.
  • Experience in Data Warehouse, ERP, MES, WMS, Business Analytics.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $155,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $302,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
