Engagement Assistant – Capital Projects (Seasonal)

Seasonal, Hourly

Hourly Range: $12.74 – $15.93/hr

Job Summary

The Milwaukee County Parks Department contains over 15,000 acres of land and over 150 designated parks. Parks manages eleven parkways, over 210 miles of trail, countless playgrounds, athletic courts and fields, two recreation centers, twelve pools, two horticultural facilities, golf courses, dog parks and food and beverage locations. There are currently over 45 active capital projects managed by the department in addition to multiple third-party partnership projects and in-house construction improvements taking place. This position is responsible for communicating the status of these projects to constituents and incorporating community feedback into plan design for community amenities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Bang the Table Software – create and maintain Bang the Table engagement pages for ongoing capital projects. Update staff contact information, obtain project renderings and timelines, and create site input opportunities via surveys, comments etc.
  • In-person public engagement – assist capital project managers with scheduling, content, collateral production, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with Landscape Architects, Engineers, and planning staff to monitor capital project timelines and ensure engagement according to the assigned level.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications team to update social media, department website and other stakeholders of opportunities for project input.

Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences

  • Valid Driver’s License required and must be maintained throughout incumbency
  • High school diploma or G.E.D is required
  • Basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications required (e.g. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel)
